Main / Adding comments

Read By The Author

edit SideBar

Being the author, you may feel a need or desire to include a personal statement about how you made the book, and thank and acknowledge those who helped you. It is better to include this in liner notes which you distribute with the recording than to put it on the recording itself.

If you do record comments, make sure they appear after the end of the book, not before it starts. Let your listener get right into the story.

Some don'ts:

  • Avoid including transient, changeable information on the audio recording itself. It is okay to include addresses and such on the packaging, but you don't want to have to modify the audio because you moved to Wyoming.
  • A big don't: Don't include any personal information, such as your private email address on the recording. For one, you are just asking for spam if you do, but more importantly, you will be locking yourself in to an email address that you may not want to maintain.
  • Don't pitch buying your book on the audio. It's just plain tacky. Don't mention a price.
  • Websites are very commonly associated with books and audiobooks, but remember that they may be gone tomorrow. Put the website info on the packaging, not in the recording.
